US-Tarife für schwere Lkw
In late 2025, the United States government announced a new trade policy imposing a 25% tariff on medium and heavy-duty trucks imported into the U.S. market starting November 1, 2025. This decision, framed as a measure to “protect domestic manufacturing and jobs,” affects not only complete truck imports but also dealer and fleet purchase economics. For suppliers in the heavy-duty truck parts ecosystem—such as braking systems, chassis components, and service parts—the tariff regime represents a significant shift in cost structure. Analysts warn that these tariffs, layered on existing steel and aluminum duties, will increase baseline costs for fleets and dealers in 2026, potentially delaying investment in new equipment and reducing demand for replacement components. According to industry reports, North American Class 8 truck order activity in late 2025 showed continued softness, partly due to tariff-related uncertainty and weakening freight conditions. Market participants are closely watching how the tariff structure will influence sourcing decisions, dealer inventory levels, and supply chain resilience in the broader heavy truck aftermarket. Manufacturers and parts suppliers sourcing from Mexico, Canada, Japan, and Europe—the top exporters of heavy trucks and related components—could see operational strategies shift towards increased localization or adjusted pricing to maintain competitiveness under higher tariff barriers.
